Welcome to the Council on the Ageing (ACT) website. In the Australian Capital Territory, COTA is the peak organisation concerned with all issues related to ageing. It is an independent, non-party political and non-religious organisation working to protect and promote the well-being, rights and interests of all older people in the ACT and their carers, irrespective of socio-economic, ethnic, religious or cultural background. COTA offers a range of services and support options for older people in the ACT community.

Vehicle Immobiliser Scheme Extended
The existing Vehicle Immobiliser Scheme which allowed recipients of Centrelink benefits to have a car immobiliser fitted free of charge has been extended to allow other members of the public to benefit from a low-cost immobiliser scheme. Read more

Road Safety for Older People: Revised website
The Livedrive website was first released in 2004. We have recently re-vamped the website to make it easier to read. The site contains a wealth of road safety information for older people in the ACT. The information is not limited to driving but includes information for ALL road users. Read more
The Rudd Government has announced a review of Taxation and Pensions to be completed in 2009. We are keen to gather local support to develop ACT input to the review. We are keen to identify both Age Pensioners and self funded retirees who are willing to assist by completing a questionnaire. Read more
